New XH Owner Needs Guidance.

Hello All,

I'm a proud owner of the XH A1. I had read great things about it and decided to splurge on it last week.

I recently shot a short (HDV, 24fps) and was trying to import the footage to my hardrive using Premiere CS4 (on Windows 7). Prior to this camera, I had been using the GL2 and never had problems with this NLE recognizing the GL2.

However, not sure if the HDV files are giving issues, but the NLE is having a tough time importing footage off the XH A1.

I read another post where it was suggested to use HDVSplit. I tried that and that worked well. One thing i noticed however is that this being HD footage, but the file size for say a 25 second clip is 84,255KB. Does that seem right? i checked some file sizes from my GL2 footage and that being SD, the sizes seem somewhat equal.

Am I doing something wrong? Is this normal?

Thanks so much in advance.

Ash,

That sounds right. I just had a look at some of my clips to check. I shoot in HDV 25fps, a clip which is 84,316 KB is 25 seconds and 14 frames.

Don't forget that you're talking about different codecs for HDV and SD. m2t codec for HDV and I'm guessing avi for your SD footage. They'll each compress the VT differently.

Chris

Ash.....
Congrats...

There's a template that you should be able to download in PPro, that allows for correct 24FPS capture and playback.....
I'm busy now, but try to search it on the Adobe sight...

Awesome Guys, I can breath a little sign of relief now.

Peter, if you do have the time to find this, I would greatly appreciate it.
