Powering On/Off with XLR Mic

Is it ok to switch the XH-A1 on and off with a mic (Rode NTG-2) already connected and with +48V phantom power left switched on, or should the +48V switch be turned Off whilst camera power is switched on/off ?

Conventional wisdom is to power off phantom power before plugging in or removing a mike from its socket, presumably to prevent shorts, but I have never heard of having to change phantom power settings when powering the camera on or off with the mike attached....as a practical matter I used a Senn ME66 on phantom power on an XHa1 for 3 years and always left the phanom power engaged, never had a problem. / Battle Vaughan

It's good to form habits or regular routines with all gear so in times of pressure, fast set-ups etc, you don't stuff anything up, like I have at itmes.

Don't connect or unplug an XLR mic with the A1s 48volt power switched on. Same routine as domestic electrical appliances. But with an XLR mic connected I too leave its 48V on, while powering the A1 on/off.

Brian if you always power the NTG-2 with 48V, don't leave a battery in it. When it goes flat its been known to leak.

Cheers.
