XH-A1 DV 30f Final Cut Capture
 

I have seen a lot of threads covering HDV capture settings into Final Cut, but I haven't been able to find anything on DV Capture settings.
I had an XL2 before, and 30p captured into a 60i timeline always looked great. But now, capturing 30f from the A1 the same way gives me a lot of interlacing effects. Should I be using different capture and sequence settings for this camera? What should field dominance be set at?

I am confused by the vocabulary in your question. DV is 60i not 30f. The A1 can be setup to downconvert HDV to DV on the capture. I would expect interlacing to be DV (lower-even) at that point.

Thanks for the reply. The A1 can shoot 30f in DV just like in HDV. Both use 60i containers I believe.

oh right. forgot about that. still not sure exactly what is going on but DV standard is lower(even). Applying a deinterlace filter on the timeline may work around the problem. Are you seeing the interlacing on DVD or computer playback? Sometimes the video player software has a setting for de-interlace that solves the problem while viewing. In the case of Quicktime, the setting is stored in the file for future playback. However, the data itself is not deinterlaced in the file, just on-the-fly during playback. TMMV
