Videos for the theater

Hi all:

This is my first work posted here. I've really enjoyed learning from the forum.

Recently I directed a production of John Webster's 17th-century tragedy "The White Devil" with my students at Hofstra University. The production was very violent, very bloody, extremely funny in a dark and twisted way, and updated to (more or less) modern times.

The play featured an extensive multimedia design. I put a number of things on video, including the two murders and the ghost in the links below. It was my first time out with my brand-new Canon XHA1s. because of the playback limitations in the theater, and because my editing time was limited, I shot on standard def. Two of the pieces used green-screens, and one had a partial set built for it. Stock lens, some color correction in post, and use of the CGM "Aged Film" filter in FCE.

Given our schedule and the limitations of the project i was very happy with the results. I'd decided to go for various types of silent film looks with these videos; for Camillo's murder my reference point was old Keystone comedies; for Isabella's murder I was thinking a little later in the silent era, like D.W. Griffith; and the Isabella's ghost it was a combination of things, the waves crashing in the background are from a very early Edison film.

Anyway, it was great fun to do, enjoy and I welcome any feedback.

Thanks!
