A1 spare parts?

I need to get a few bits for the camera.
1. A new lens hood
2. the mic holder broke off. left a hole in the plastic around where it joins the camera so id be hoping to get the plastic casing at this particualar area of the camera replaced.

Would anyone knwo where i could get these parts?

thanks
Ger

There's a thread in the classified section.....should be within the first few pages. Selling spare parts. I Don't recall the list. Hope this helps.

Canon USA Parts Department +1 732 521 7230, don't know about Europe.

Ger Griffin January 27th, 2010 05:30 AM

Thanks Guys,
Im not sure about Europe, doesnt seem to be so straightforward.

Bill Engeler January 28th, 2010 12:50 PM

In Europe, my experience has been that Canon doesn't sell parts directly, but you should start here:

Canon Ireland Ltd
Analogue Video, Digital Video

Arena Road
Sandyford Industrial Estate
Dublin 18

Tel: 01 205 2400
Fax: 01 205 8141

Email: dublin.camera@canon.ie
Web: Canon Ireland - Home

On the continent, there are a few non-Canon, but Canon-approved, repair centers that may sell these parts. Look on the Canon site for the Netherland's repair center. I forget their name, but they might sell parts.

I don't know about Europe either, but I just ordered a new lens cap and a new mic-holder assembly from Canon. My only beef was that they shipped the two small parts in two separate boxes (UPS no less). No wonder the costs are so high for shipping.

Ger Griffin January 30th, 2010 02:32 PM

Thanks Bill & Jeremiah,
BillI called them and i have to send the camera up to them so they can do me up with an estimate.
I may as well get it serviced while Im at it.
Aside form the parts, Any idea how much it might be to service the A1 in europe?
They said they would do me up an estimate before i give them the go ahead but to get it up to them could cost a few bob to
begin with.

Tech Repair NL, the Canon place in Holland, was very fair, I thought. I sent them an XHA1 with a badly pitted lens and a dented mic holder. These repairs, plus a cleaning, were about €250.
