My Very First Color Correction, Plz Comment
 

I have Just received my XH a1, and I thought i should get a quick shot and see the After Effect. My Reference are on the Greens....

Nothing Special, a Very Short CLIP too.

Welcome to the forums....

You might have pulled the greens out of the leaves, but i believe the overall colour cast is wrong...
You'd definately need to get secondary CC out of the toolbox, and definately play with the LEVELS filter...
The levels are flat, and could do much more for your picture, if the outputs were redistributed...

Otherwise, not bad....

Hi Sauti. I think your results will be a lot better if you white balance the camera and set the exposure properly before shooting. Then you will have more room to play around in post processing.

I have worked on the wb but i did not mess with the exposure (ND kept popping that i should turn it on all the time, as you can see on my recent video).

May be i'll look into that next time when I get time to shoot some random videos.

please let me know what you think on the recent video. The old version was a mess i agree.

Hi Sauti. I looked at the first couple of minutes of the video, but to be honest, I don't really get what you are trying to do with the footage, as the Mojo effect is not very pronounced. When I apply Mojo to a clip it is in order to change the feel or mood of the video, and it is not at all subtle, not the way I do it anyway! :)

The main intention of the video was to (try to) give it a good color correction as far as green looks green, red looks red, and blue looks blue, Also I added the mojo effect just to get that darkish feel (not the blockbuster one) however i set bleach to Zero.

I can see on your video that you have added vignette and bleached those people very good. Thank you for the heads up, I'm a noob so please bear with me.

Colour correction needs to be approached with some respect...
There's a few basic steps you need to start any CC work, and then you can start adding looks..

A)As mentioned earlier, shoot with correct exposure and balance
B)Correct your Luma levels (Adjust the tonal ranges.).
C)Correct your colour cast.
D)Do your "Looks"
E)Play with the vignettes, and secondaries...

I'd strongly suggest buying The Art and Technique of Digital Color Correction by Steve Hullfish..
Once you've grasped these concepts, then you can make educated changes and have total power over your end result...

Otherwise, you'll only get as good as the "one stop shop" buttons in front of you, and the trained eye can tell the results..
