External Battery on XH-A1
 

Is there any way to power the XH-A1 from an external battery using an adaptor/dummy without shelling out the money for something like the the Anton Bauer ElipZ 10k? I tested the dummy battery, connected to the charger with the battery on the charger(not plugged into the wall) on the XH-A1 to see if that option would work, but it didn't.

I'm not sure why you would want to. If you get high capacity internal batteries they last forever.

I agree -- why would you want to do this?

You can always buy a CH-910 dual battery charger. Once the batteries are charged, you can connect it to the camera and get double the time (which is really long if you use the biggest batteries).

I have one of these, but only because it allowed me to set up two batteries for charging overnight. (I can go to sleep and know two batteries will be rady in the morning.) I've never had a reason to need continuous power more than the several hours that one high capacity battery provides.

thanks you for the ch-910 link, i ordered myself one. to be honest, this isnt for my xh-a1, but my marshall monitor, which has a canon mount, allowing me to use my old canon batteries that i used to use on my xh-a1. however, the rig that i have for the monitor wont allow the batteries to mount on the monitor flush with the mount, so i figured id send them elsewhere.

i just figured that if i posted on an xh-a1 thread, people would have better responses, which turned out to be true, hahaha-- the same post that i did on the monitor thread didnt get any responses at all yet.

gotta love compatibility, especially in this modern world

The fully charged Canon BP-970 battery gets me through half a days airshow.

I also bought the Impact IMBP970 for backup when I can't get back to the charger .. because it's heavier just have a camera mark for rebalancing the camera on the tripod.

But it seems to have developed a problem .. another thread.
