I'm doing some interview work, and the first results are as follows using my XHA1. I used the VIVIDRGB preset. Any ideas to get it more crisp?

thanks

One possibility is the background is very bright and you're getting lens flare which is desaturating your blacks. I don't know the pedistal and knee settings for vividrgb, but you might go back to the default settings and see if your custom setting is part of the problem......

I can try that, but I also used the default/no preset too.

Hi Jeff............

I'd shoot it maybe 1 to 2 stops down to stop that white background blowing it away.

I keep my A1 buttoned down half a stop permanently as it tends to shoot a tad hot straight out of the box.

Ideally I'd use a more neutral mid toned backdrop but if white is all you have...............

I do this look all the time. Heres what you need to do.

First off, make sure to shoot in manual mode with all auto gain off and other gain set to low -3. Use the Iris ring for exposure.

Second, Make sure your light source is above the head at a 45 degree angle, in your pic I can see a shadow of her nose to the side, a higher placed light source will help this.

Third, your subject NEEDS a neutral powder over her skin to prevent all those hot spots and shine.

Fourth, NO need to shoot this with any presets, all CC should be in post. Mainly contrast and saturation.

I love a bright white background, here is a link to my Old Spice ad where I used all these tips with a white background.
