Motion Blur?

Is it just me or does the XHA1 blur really easily? It seems whether you move the camera or your subject moves you get a fair amount of blur. I've tried various frame rates and shutter speeds, too. 24fps almost seems unusable. Is it the HDV format in general, the Canon, or something else? It looks smooth in the LCD usually (especially 60i) when I'm recording, but playback on my computer (I'm using a Dell 22" HD monitor) always looks blurry.

Thanks. I get blur even if the cam is still if the subject is moving. As far as high shutter speed. It seems the general consensus is to double the rate of the frame rate. So, for 24p, you'd use 1/48 shutter, 30p, 1/60 shutter. Should I go higher to combat blur/smear?
