New XH-A1s cams in hand - setting up!

We received them yesterday, yeah, very nice. Very heavy on the front end; will definitely have to figure out a good solution for shifting the weight.

I used the MA-100 bracket for holding my firestore or Wireless receiver (trying to attach image.... Chris, do I have sufficient permissions?)
it would be very cool to somehow create a bar that mounted on the base, extending back to a shoulder mount; but also with a similar bracket behind the camera.

I like several of the camera shoulder supports I've seen; but generally prefer having my hands on the camera and lens, rather than an additional hand grip.

We received ours this week. Been using an A1 for 2yrs so it's interesting to compare 'em. Currently going through the process of installing the same custom presets on the A1s.

First thing I did was put the OIS on custom key 1. Big relief after going through the A1 menu to do that.
Cheers.

Alan, what is the OIS you refer to?
Thanks!

(Optical) Image Stabiliser Dave .. P52 in the PAL manual.

That was one of the biggest complain for the XH-A1a model is the lack of assigning OIS on/off to the custom button. It is fixed in XH-A1s.

How about getting a shotgun mic? I have NTG-1 with a 1 feet angled XLR cable. The setup looks great.

David .. it's not absolutely necessary but if you haven't run tapes through your machines yet .. run a same brand DV cleaning tape for 10secs to clean off any possible factory crud off the guides and heads.
This has come up elsewhere and is recommended for new cams. I just did mine .. sorry I didn't mention it before.

Cheers.
