infrared filter?

Is there an IR filter on the XH? I'd like to record owls in the "dark" with an IR light and was wondering if the XH series will let me do this. I know why manufacturers filter these wavelengths... but it sure would be fun to capture HD footage.

There's a few folks out there whom have canon modify their digital still camera's for taking images in the IR zone, but I've heard it's one-way deal (no going back).

Not sure how this would apply to a video camera, but I would not be surprised if it was a similiar hack, at least for the CMOS chip versions.
