What's the difference between 30f and 30p?

I know the 30f shooting offered by the A1 and G1 is not true progressive. So what is is exactly? I believe it isn't the cheesy psuedo-progressive shooting the Sony Z1u offers, but I'm still in the dark as to what exactly 30f and 24f are.

"True" progressive -- that's strictly a marketing term. For all practical purposes, Frame mode is progressive scan. When there's no visible difference in the implementation, "true" doesn't really apply anymore, because it's all true... it's all identical.

So the "frame" mode in 30f/24f is still a full frame (as opposed to two "half frames" in interlaced footage)? Do still images in 30f look better than that of 60i?

30f, frames will indeed be better than 60i ones... Unless you like the interlaced look...
