Most of the online retailers recently drop their prices. Not just the Canon XH-A1, but also the Sony FX-7 and Sony V1U.

That is good for people who are waiting but sucks for those who just bought it. I picked mine up for a little less through a contractor in a bulk order so there is still a little more room for those thing to drop yet :)

I paid $3799.95 for my Canon XH-A1 and actually thought the price was very good. Who knew the prices would drop so quickly.

There is no new model coming out. The Canon XH-A1 & XH-G1 was released just a couple of weeks ago.

There's *always* a new model coming out. What you buy off the shelf now was CAD in the machine two years ago.

well...

on the Sony FX7/V1u forum there seems to be quite a few people trying to decide between the V1u and the A1. Maybe Canon wants to help tip the scale now that the first V1s are about to ship.

I think it's just typical marketing where the early adopters and seekers pay the highest prices and soon thereafter when supplies are at normal levels- the manufacturers level out the prices after determining market value.

Nikon did this to much dismay with a digital SLR called the Nikon D2H, which were selling for $4999 only to drop down to $2999 only 5 weeks later, leaving many Nikon buyers very upset at the loss in value (resale as well.)

Welcome to the electronic age!

I agree there is *always* a new model coming out, but there won't be a new model coming out anytime soon to replace the Canon XH-A1/G1.

No taxes on the Canon XH-A1 and free 3 days Fedex shipping was included with the price.

What's most amazing to me is that with US currency loosing its value thanks to ... [beep... censored...], the prices of imported goods still drop... We all should be happy, even those who bought XH A1 for initial price. Me one of them and me be happy :)

If gas prices followed electronics market, X-large SUVs would inherit the Earth until the end of it all...

Ordered my XH-A1 from B&H on Sunday.

UPS delivered it on Tuesday.

Read this thread Tuesday evening.

Emailed B&H on Wednesday.

Received an email reply Thursday: "No problem - we will refund you the $300".

I like B&H.
