SD 4:3 XHA1 Sample Request
 

I went through the samples post and couldn't find any SD footage. I apologize if I somehow skipped over something.

Anyway, I am looking for standard definition footage from this camera (SD originated, not downconverted), 60i frame rate, with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Reason being...I still get requests for this. It is STILL the standard for productions and I would like to see how well it handles in this format.

A 1 minute clip of indoor (at night, under standard house lighting) and outdoor footage (on a sunny day, preferably) would be great! I'm sorry if I'm being picky, but I really want to know if I'm making the right decision on purchasing this camera...

I started a project Friday using SD 4:3, but cannot post clips on it yet.
However, I can tell you, that the footage came out looking quite nice. I prefer it to the footage taken on my VX2100 that I have at work. No blue cast, fantastic LCD and EVF, etc.
The A1's ability to switch between DV and HDV, 16:9 and 4:3 running 24F, 30F, or 60i make it an ideal cam for use on a wide range of projects. Try it, you'll like it.

I have a VX2100 and have been very pleased with the results (as have my clients). However I, too, am considering getting the XH-A1 - as for this year I see a need for 16:9 output, and I would not use the VX for that..
begs the question tho - whether VX clips can be used cut in with A1's SD 4:3 footage... have you tried that at all..? Are they going to look way too soft?

I have not yet tried mixing footage between the two, perhaps I can do that this weekend for some fun.

That would definitely be an interesting comparison. And yes, about the blue cast. I know exactly what you're talking about...it makes skin tones look bleh. A recent review of the Sony FX7 in Videomaker says it has the same "issue."
