Good Job!

Jeremiah,

This is a very good production, thanks for sharing. The message at the end is crystal clear. Very powerful!

Great job!

Wow, shocking and very well done. I got fooled until the very end.

The only thing is they wouldn't use the next available trashcan to leave it but I'll stop nitpicking now :)

Hi Jeremiah,

Great prodution, very clear on the video quality!!

Can you share some information about the softwares you used on editing?
Which software(or even hardware) for video rendering?

I am using SONY HC3, however, I am not sure why my video seems
only SD quality instead of HD.
(I am using SONY Vegas for video rendering)

I know A1 can produce better video quality, however,
I think my HC3 should not worse like SD...
Maybe I made something wrong on the rendering part.

Hope you can advise me some hints.

Thank you!

Brando

I used Sony Vegas 7 and gearshift to edit with proxies. Rendered to WMV9 HD...that's basically it. I don't know too much about the HC3 so I can't help you there.

Thanks for the review.

Hi Jeremiah,

What did GEARSHIFT help you?
I just checked it from http://www.vasst.com/

I am not sure what is "4:2:2 YUV"
Does it help on colors and video quality?

Or only helping on slower PC?

Wow Jeremiah, that was a pretty impactful short. The music was well chosen and I have to say I didn't see that coming. It felt like something but I just wasn't prepared. Nice :)

I really liked the camera work and the girl was very compelling to watch.

Thank you for sharing.

Nice job especially with the CC, it looks great on a big screen too. The more clips I see from the A1, the more it's making me want to chuck the FX1 for it.

What did you use to capture your audio? It sounds crystal clear.

Jeremiah McLamb February 11th, 2007 12:07 PM

Gearshift allowed me to make NTSC proxy files (i didn't use the 4:2:2 method) so it was easier on my computer to edit. Less stress on the CPU than a M2t file. Then when I finished my edit I just replaced the low rez NTSC proxy files with the HD m2t files and rendered it through vegas as a HD WMV.....i'm still playing around trying to find the best HD output though. I'll probably render a full HD file uncompressed just for the heck of it.

The audio was capture through a shotgun (sennheiser i think) on a boom pole...straight into the A1. And we really only used the shotgun for the dialogue...for the car and bathroom scenes I just used the built in mic. I know! I was impressed to...but I had a great audio guy...and that goes a long way too...

Thanks for the reviews guys..I will pass your comments on to the actors and crew!

Brilliant! Very well done. Great image quality aswell. Among the best I've seen from the A1. I guess the full 1440 x 1080 resolution helps. Not too many people post up full size clips. It was shot in 24F I'd assume?

If I had to nitpick, one thing I noticed was the purple wall in the hospital appears to change colour. In the earlier shots it has more of a yellow tone, but that seems to have vanished in the shot of the parents on their own.

I'm also curious about Gear Shift. Is it a quick and simple process to render all the proxies and then later bring the HDV files back in? I've been editing the native .m2t in Vegas 7. I can get it to work in real time with effects added, but only with the preview at 480 wide.

Mark Leonard February 12th, 2007 10:43 AM

man, go on a trip for a few days and looks like I missed a good one :(.

Chris please hook him up with some space so the rest of us can see.

Nice short. I enjoyed it but I've done a few moralistic films before so I predicted the end as soon as the character ran into the woods.

Good job overall, thanks.

Jeremiah McLamb February 13th, 2007 02:52 PM

Farid:

You are watching a short I did over a year ago titled "Purpose". The short this thread is refering to is titled "LIFE" and isn't on my site right now.....i am still waiting to hear from Chris.
