American A-1 in Europe?

Hi everyone.

I'm an american expat living in London. I'll be buying the A-1 for the sole purpose of making films, nothing else. I'm planning on buying the american version from BHP video on my next trip home in March. Not only to save A LOT of money thanks to the exchange rate, but because I want the 24 frames a second feature. I have an adapter so I charge the battery, but is there anything I could be forgetting or any other obstacles I might encounter. Again, I have no interest in using my camera for PAL/NTSC playback. I'll be editing on my Mac G5 using Final Cut Pro.

Thanks.

Win

P.S., although i know the European version can record at 25 fps, 24 is still exactly what I want as opposed to 'close'.

So long as you will be using your camera exclusively for playback and recording there is no need to worry about it.

B&H does have a PAL model for sale too but it's more expensive than the NTSC version. Just do a search under "XHA1, PAL"

Fluorescent lights at 50Htz vs. 60Htz.

Is there any difference (beyond no 24p/60i pulldown hassles) ? ;-)

I've shot NTSC video under fluorescent lights in Europe with no trouble, although in theory there might be some flicker. The only hangup might be if you need a monitor on location.
