My first HDV-CAM

Finaly i'm at the point to buy my new Canon XH-A1 (European model)
Tomorow I'm leaving early for a trip to the store and get my new camera.

But there are a few questions......

One of them is about the software from Canon.
Does Canon deliver the camera including the controller (version?) software?
Or do I have to buy that ?
I saw the V1.1 version on the website and there are some presets on this forum. How can I put those in the new camera?
(the rest will follow as soon as I have it)

I hope someone can tell me

Thanks in advance and I hope to post some nice results in the very near future.

Just one more night.....(sigh)

Hi Gert,

No software is included with the camcorder.

If you are referring to the application offered by Canon called Console v1.1, that is a separate purchase. It's about 500 or 600 Euros. It's a very nice program, but you don't need it if you're just getting started with the camcorder.

To put the downloadable Custom Presets into your XH A1, you'll need an inexpensive USB device called an SD Card Reader. They are available at any store that sells digital still cameras, flash memory and other electronics.

Welcome to DV Info Net,

Hey ! Thanks Chris !

So the settings can be transferred to the SD card, than insert it in the camera and read them via the menu of the camera ?
Sounds easy. And I have a built in Card Reader for all cards in my big computer. My laptop has also an SD slot built in.

I downloaded the V1.1 software and installed it on the pc. Looks great, but I don't think I want to spent 500-600 Euro's on software right now.
I have to adapt everything around this camera: A new 3-pod, new filters, new microphone's, new cables, new tapes and many other things.

But it will be fun working with this new piece of hardware.

Many thanks to all the other users who posted video's and other usefull material on this board.

Kudo's to you all !
