Sky detail - allways on?

I am looking for a general setting that I more or less can use allways for newsgathering and documentaries.
Sofar I prefer setting No 17 by Bill Taka
"NATURALO" closely resembles natural outdoor colors, requiring minimum correction. Thank you for sharing Bill!

I wonder if the sky detail helps enhancing the sky and if I can leave it on allways even indoor- what could happened? Pros and cons?

Any other suggestions for a general setting?

Thank you/Erik

I think sky detail has something to do with the richness of blues.

IIRC, the sky detail, will limit the graininess in the big patches of blue area, and probably soften it somewhat. The encoder would theoretically have to work less on the sky area(s) that way... and could then work more on the non-sky areas of your image. And a grain-free sky is a prettier sky... unless you're shooting for an 8mm film "look".

Skin detail does something similar, but for different reasons (usually to soften out skin tones and imperfections since the cam is so hi-def).

I would opt NOT to leave sky detail on when indoors... because it would probably do something funky to anything "sky" blue in the frame.

I shot a short with the A1 - still a day to shoot once we get a location and scripts updated. But some of my shots have a fair bit of sky in them and I didnt use sky detail at all. They sky is a beautiful blue (circular polarizer used).
