A1 Preset Adjustments... detailed explanations?

Just wondering if anyone can shed the light on EXACTLY what each setting does... though some are obvious.... Thoughjt I'd ask because I haven't seen too much info on these settings. Some I've played with while previewing on my monitor but can't reall tell a difference, but still want to know what it does.

Knee: I know adjusts the rolloff of the whites and brights. Lower means that it keeps details at brighter levels without going white.

BLACK: Obvious

SETUP LEVEL:

H DTL FREQ:

CORING:

NR1: Appears to smooth out grain, but leaves ghosting.

NR2: How does this work?

Hi Jerome,

Have a peek here: http://www.usa.canon.com/app/html/XL..._control.shtml

This is for the XL H1, but the same applies to the XH A1.

Thanks, that helps... but I'd still like to know more about these two:

But for those 2 it doesn't really describe it.... and when I hook the cam up to my HD monitor and sdjust these two, I CAN'T tell a difference.

"H Detail adjustment: This adjusts the center frequency of the H detail. The center frequency in the horizontal direction can be set to "HIGH" (high range), MIDDLE (middle range), and LOW (low range).

H/V balance adjustment: For adjusting the horizontal/vertical percentage of detail correction. This is adjusted to suit the user's personal preference. Adjustment is possible in the -9 to +9 range.

I don't know the explanation of it. I do know mine are set to whatever the default is and I love the images from the cam. It may be a setting that you will only notice a difference under optimal test conditions.
