XH-A1 Quick Question about 24f

Will the Canon XH-A1 work like the Sony and will output the 24f as 60i for compatiblity with editing programs?

I might be blind, but I havent seen this posted in my search.

thanks.

My understanding is that yes, you can output as 60i if you want. But why not just edit in a 24p timeline? If you're shooting HDV, my feeling is that it's best to keep it 24p all the way, and then for DVD authoring or output to tape, go to the pulldown thing at that point.

reason for my question is because the nle I use doesnt support the canon 24f yet, but it will support the 60i for editing. My hope was to edit with 60i then do the conversion in a different app when I was finished.

Thanks for your reply.

What editing software are you using? You may find it useful the process of capturing using HDV Split (free windows only), then converting your m2t files to whatever flavor your editing software needs with MPEG Streamclip (free both windows, mac). Been working for me with Avid, creating 1920x1080 23.976 fps DNXhd files right from MPEG Streamclip which you can import easily.

I actually tried campturing from my xh to windows movie maker, and it identified it as 60i, and played back normally!
