Monday Morning
 

I am continuing my studies of early morning light and colors and trying to convey the vastness of the space while showcasing the wide angle capability of the XHA1's native lens. I have developed a special preset for sunrise sequences such as these but am keeping it private for now. I will release it when I have done further testing. I shot mostly with a graduated ND.6 filter and the only cc done was a slight levels correction. The only other thing I added was my usual cinemascope crop.

There are a couple of ambient sound glitches which I will fix when I get a chance.

Breath taking. You obviously are learning to paint with light with your new cam. I am guessing your experimentation is designed to exploit its setting to get absolutely the "best" or most "beautiful" or most "unique" image. I admire your diligence. This sets the bar higher for the rest of us.

I've seen through your 3 films Steven, and I must say it's stunning.
Your painting of this beautiful landscape with people walking in and out of the scenary, it's a dreamy world you paint.
Your transitions is well planned and makes it even more dreamy.
I like to be in there, with the dogs and the people, so to speak.
And the colours are magnificent.

Graduated ND Filter
 

I was wondering which Graduated filter you are using? I used to use some cokin filters with my TRV 900. I think they're too small for the A1, but I liked that I could slide them up and down to get the graduation just where I wanted it. Do you have one you can move around or just use a screwed mount and forget it?

Dave, I use the 4x4 type that Tiffen makes. It's a .6 graduated ND filter. I have a mattebox (cavision 4x4 bellows type) but frankly for the sunrise shots I do, I just unscrew the XHA1's suncover and hold the filter in front of the lens with my hand. I do move it up and down depending on the shot but I'm obviously not moving it while recording. So far it's worked for me. If I was shooting from the same location for a while I would take the time to set the mattebox up.
