Slowmo

Working with the Beta of Premiere Pro CS3, I tried out the time warp effect and slowed down the footage to 25%. Everything is at the effect's default.

I think with some tweaking it could look really good. There's some obvious frame blending going on here but there are many options to choose from which I haven't investigated yet.

That looks great, really enhances the mood of the scene. The shot is rather forgiving though; "Z-axis movement" and a relatively small subject.
I'd love to see more footage if you continue tweaking.

Is it deinterlaced 60i? Shutterspeed?

PS: Your posts have been a great factor for me deciding on the XH-A1. Will be ordering next week. Canon should pay you :)

Thanks for the nice comments :)

This is 24f footage, 1/48 shutter

Darrell Essex April 27th, 2007 01:39 PM

So Steven, did you record using the 24f setting or get 24p with software?

Ordered my A1 today and I must say that viewing your work was a big motivator. I want to shot just like you when I grow up. thanks for taking the time to demo some of your footage,

Steven I've been checking our your work for a while now and have been continuously impressed with both your skills and the quality of the XH-A1/Letus Flip combination. You're sample footage has been my confirmation to get that combination for myself. I absolutely love the overall feeling that having a 35mm depth of field gives to the footage. I can't wait to apply this stuff to a short film that I'm writing. Thanks for posting your stuff Steven, it's excellent and keep it up!

Ditto what Andrew said

I to have enjoyed your clips Steven. I have been mentally exhausted trying to decide which camera to get. I believe the XH A1 is the best choice, here is why: Right now, you can get the XH A1 for around 3100 after rebate. For 700.00 the Letus35 Flip enhanced version. Add a 35mm lense of choice and you have a great setup under 4000.00. Nobody can beat that. I know the pictures are great, I have seen Stevens work, and the support with presets in this section is the best in this forum! Steven should be a Canon Rep. Thanks. J P.S. Selling one of my XL2 cams to get this one. J

Steven,

Can you please explain what you are using to capture this image. Is it an XH A1 with a Letus35 Flip enhanced version? Is that basically it? What kind of lens did you have on the Letus35?

Hayes Roberts May 14th, 2007 09:44 PM

Steven, Thanks for all of your hard work in here--your footage is also a big reason I have decided to purchase the A1/Letus combo. One big question-Have you developed a scene file that closely emulates your original DVX footage? Some of that stuff was pure magic! How about an XHA1 "boot camp"?

Steven Dempsey May 14th, 2007 10:14 PM

Yes, I have, it's called VIVIDRGB and it's in the Presets thread on this forum.

Thanks for the comments.
