HDV playout from FCP
 

Hi!

I have a problem playing a HDV project captured in FCP (studio 2) Intermediate codec to a tape. The A1 say "check the hdv/dv input". What shall I do?

I thought Studio 2 would do this for you automatically, but maybe not. In FCP5.2.4 there's an Easy Setup, 1080p24, that I use for capturing 24p HDV. You didn't say what you captured at. If you did that and then changed the settings, or your sequence settings are different from that one, then that could be a problem. All the settings have to match. Your sequence settings and capture settings need to match, I think.

I captured in HDV intermediate codec,I tried different output settings HDV 1080i50, HDV basic, PAL-HDV.

Could there be some camerasetting I missed?

Camera must be in down convert mode (dv in/out) Same goes for HV 10.

What if he wants to record it in HDV?
I don't know anything about the intermediate codec. That could be a problem; just guessing. I haven't used anything but FCP's HDV 1080p24.

For dubbing to HDV, set camera to HDV firewire, use print to video option, system conforms to HDV, when thats done, press record on the cam. The issue w/ previewing out HDV, is the system is downconverting your HDV timeline in a real time dv stream, so your cam needs to be set up for dv firewire.

Thanks, Apple support gave me the same answer. I´ll try it now.
By the way, the setting in FCP should be "HDV basic" for my PAL A-1 according to Apple.

If I work in native HDV, there will be no transcoding, and a quicker process right?

Yes, if all your settings are right, you should be able to edit just as if it were DVD. When I finish a project and do the export for DVD, there's a fairly long render, which it calls "conforming." Resurrecting the film terminology there, and in a way it makes sense.
