Century Optics lens question

Hi,
I've been considering buying this wide angle lens for my XL2: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...=194448&is=REG

It's a Century Precision Optics VS-06WA-XL2 0.6X Wide Angle Adapter Lens. This is new to me, so if anyone could answer a few questions I have I'd really appreciate it:

1. I had a cheap wide angle lens before and there was a ring around the image that I had to zoom past to get rid of. Will I have the same problem with this one?
2. What is the 'bayonet mount'?

Thanks.

Hi Joe,
This lens adapter will not work with the 20x lens. The bayonet mounts like the lens hood on the front of the lens. I don't think there is clearance enough on this adapter, resulting in glass touching glass. It will however work with the 16X lens. I think you would be better off with the 3X wide angle lens,

I would have to disagree. I have an XL2 and have a "Century Optics Pro Series .6X Wide Angle Adapter Mk2". It has no problems mounting to my XL2 and works well until zooming past 1/4 to 1/3 where auto-focus gets really inaccurate and really really slow. There is a bit of CA near the edges but it is mostly unnoticeable and can be corrected for in post if really needed.

I would recommend it.

Just be sure that you check with B&H that the one they sell will work with the XL2 before you order.

P.S. I would agree that the 3x wide angle from Canon would be far superior, but the price is not. I find the Century Optics works well enough with some careful use.

FYI, I just dug out my box for the adapter and the part number from Century Optics is: 0VS-06WA-XL2

Century Optics Wide-Angle Lens OHD 06WA XLH...

The Century Optics wide-angle lens OHD 06WA XLH (0.6) was recommended to me.

Has anyone done a side-by-side comparison of the most popular w/a lens available for the Canon XHA1? (the Canon .8, 16X9, Inc., etc.)

Any related reviews posted anywhere?

Who has the best prices?

Thank you all in advance for your replies.
