New website movies

After much trepidation and experimentation, we've finally been able to upload movies to our new (old) website.

We shot using the XL2, edited with Premiere Pro, and added effects with After Effects.

A big, huge thank you to Steven Gotz for support, advice, and helpful critiques in helping me export to our website.

Enjoy, and let me know what y'all think.

Very Nice Job , I think your footage looks great. No glitches and very clear.

I liked the Monument Valley video, the footage was really nice. The aspect ratio looked a little off, maybe the compression for web changed it?

Mike Andrade August 10th, 2007 03:11 PM

Very nicely done. Footage was really clean and the landscapes were beautifully photographed. Did you use a polarizer on any of this?

Mark Williams August 10th, 2007 03:45 PM

Very nice looking. Held up very well viewed on the web.

Hi everyone--

Thanks for the kind words and replies!

The Monument Valley doc trailer's frame size (aspect ratio?) is indeed off. We finished this in After Effects, but exported in Premiere Pro (for the web); we're trying to go back to the original AE project and fix it there.

We did use a circular polarizer, especially when we had to shoot in the middle of the afternoon, or when the sky looks washed out. My friend, and cinematographer, Yasu, really tweaked the XL2's settings; making the reds and browns really rich and saturated. Other times, I used the Saturation preset I downloaded from this site.

We've shot and produced several projects since October '06, but it's taken this long to put something up to show people; mainly due to my lack of knowledge of export web settings. Again, a big shout out to Steven Gotz for the guidance and support!
