Direct-to-disk recording..?

Perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself here, but I wonder if anyone can point me to some "how to" resources for XL2 direct-to-disk recording? More specifically, I wonder if there are some Firewire disk device that can be attached to the camera.

Hi Peer. There's been a lot of discussion about this subject on the forums. You could start here:

Lots of us use the Firestore.
You can also plug your XL2 directly into a Mac, open iMovie, and record directly to disk that way.

And there is also DV-Rack (now On Location, part of CS3) which allows you to record straight to a laptop, with the advantage of various video monitors and a focus/exposure system among other things.

Can't comment on how it is now it's with Adobe and I personally have given up on it as there is no upgrade path from the old DV-Rack to the new On Location. It was good in its day but not worth having to shell out for the full Production Suite to get it.

I'm considering Firestore as well.

Yeah, I wish Apple had a 6" laptop that could be attached to the camera.
