.7 Century Optics WA Adaptor
 

Does this adaptor fit the 14x manual lens? Thanks.

The .7X adapter made for the 16x servo or the one for the 16X manual 16x will not work. However, Century optics have a generic 75 mm clamp-on adapter and it will work with the 14x.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking. I don't know how I missed that. I guess I searched in the wrong section.

Anyways, did you end up buying one of them? If so, how has your experience been?

Not yet, since I am in a writing process in the moment, I have postponed my purshase a little bit. Maybe by then Canon will come up with a true manual wide angle lens who know!

But I have heard great comments about the century optics adapters in the past, and there is no reason why this adapter should be inferior.

This seems like the best option...until Canon makes that manual wide angle at least.

I actually have one more question:

I was reading over old posts, and Charles Papert discusses how his prototype model .7x wide angle adaptor with the 14x vignettes slightly in the corners, so that it is only useful if you are shooting 4:3 and then letterboxing to 16:9. Here is the link to the post:

Based on what I know about how the XL2 derives its 16:9 footage, it doesn't seem like this same set up (but with the production model .7 adaptor for the 14x) would vignette at all with the XL2. Is this correct?
