Wide angle 0.5x and 2x telephoto - Will these work?

Hi I was looking on ebay, and wondering if these lenses would work with the XL2

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3843876649

Check out the above.

Has anyone had any experience of them? Do they suffer from the same problem as the screw on century optics adapter?
Will the wide angle lens be zoom through or distort the image?

If some of you are thinking these are cheap lenses, what REAL difference will I see, say over using the optex 0.7x wide angle adapter?

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Lawrence

Those lenses are very, very poor optical quality.

Search on DVXUser.com, Jarred Land sacrificed a hundred bucks for the good of all of us so he could test it and save us the heartache of being tempted by the low prices of Digital Optics lenses. After putting it on the camera and viewing what the image looked like, he laughed so hard he fell out of his chair, then immediately sent the "lens" back.

Quality optics cost money. You never want to save money on anything that goes in front of your lens. Stick to quality lensmakers like Century.

You don't want to put cheap glass on a $5,000 camcorder.

That is very true

I have just hit a very frustrating thing too

My Optex Mk2 0.7x wide angle adapter does not fit the end of the XL2 lens!

Arghhhh, I no longer have any means AT ALL of going wide angle until I buy a new adapter!

The plus point is i can include that in my xl1s kit when i sell it, however I need to save now to get a quality wide angle lens/adapter!
