Forward handgrip creaks

Has anyone's XL2 made creaking sounds from the forward handgrip? Mine seems to do it when I'm changing position during handheld stuff, especially when I've got three pounds of glass on the front (20x and Century wide w/ hood).

It seems less apparent when using the lighter 16x manual and etc, but still does it now and then and the mic picks it up. It is kind of the characteristic sound of plastic pieces moving against each other under stress, like if you take a plastic toy by the ends and try to twist it apart.
Thanks, jeffm

Went and picked mine up. Strapped the hand strap nice and tight and flexed the camera around by the grip. Not a peep. I have the 16x manual on it, but also the FU-1000 which is MUCH heavier than the colorviewfinder.

Not sure what you are hearing.

I know what he's hearing: Canon's plastic seams straining to do the job of metal. I've had this on my XL1, XL1s and now on my XL2. I almost never go handheld, so I don't care. I chalk it up to the $3900 price.

(My ZR-80 never creaks, but it's shaped like a bar of soap ...)

Hi Jeff. I'm also using the 20x and Century wide adaptor. The only creaking I have noticed so far appears to be coming from my wrist as it protests against the constant turning moment of the sideways-unbalanced camera. (The strap seems fine.)

By the way, what hood are you using with the Century adaptor?

erg... I guess I'll try balancing the camera a bit and see if that helps.

Richard Hunter:
I'm using a Cavision LH-100WM. It's pretty sweet but you need to get the 100mm to 95mm adapter ring, BH is out of them right now and I just have a few layers of doublestick tape to hold it on, lol. If you get one check that model number again but I think it's right.

Thanks a lot Jeff. I was only joking about the creaking wrist by the way - it does feel like it's creaking, but I doubt that it is audible.

Richard
