Audio confusion/premiere/xl2

Hi all. This post could go into any forum, but as I dont know what seems to be the issue I post here.

Ok, I try to hook up 2 mics to the XL2. One shotgunmic connected via XLR and a wireless with only a jackplug. This I put into the front mic jacket.

I set the XL to record at 12 bit CH 1/2,3/, and monitor on screen that I get soundinput from both the wireless and the shotgun. Audio 1 is set to front. Not sure ig I set it to CH1 or CH1-CH2

Now, I fire up premiere. First thing I notice is that it says audio is recorded at 16 bit. The sound is also not very good (I guess the sound recorded is from the wireless, I can live with the issue if its just me that gimped on quality for this one). But i don't get the shotgunmic sound.

Now, how do I get that sound captured to the PC ? I would _guess_ it is some importsettings in premiere, but I cant seem to find it. Or perhaps I set the audio recording options wrong ?

Thanks for any aid to resolve this little mystery.

At least for the US version of the XL2, PPro does not support four channel capture:

So you can only capture two channels -- the front OR the rear input. A lot of folks, especially those who do 12-bit (4 channel) recording, use Scenalyzer for their captures:

I couldn't find the PAL version of the XL2 on the Adobe compatibility list at all, but obviously people are using it. Any PAL-people have experience with 4-channel XL2 capture on PPro?

Hi Pete, thank you very much. I had not seen that statement before.

Time to shop for a new editing system.
