Possible trip to Israel and Eygpt

I oviously want to bring my video camera and still camera, what issues might I run into traveling outside the US with that type of equipment?
What advice can be given from your past experences?
What did you need that you left at home?

How about one of those sub-dermal GPS locator chips like the vet does for dogs and cats?

Probably a circular polarizer filter, and start looking at power requirements now for recharging batteries and such; very unusual power situations in that part of the world.

I've also read in this forum that customs folks (coming and going) will want to see copies of your original purchase documents to prove that you purchased the equipment stateside and don't need to pay customs tax upon re-entry.
