Holy Cow I bit the bullet!

Well the XL2, portabrace bag, Panasonic PQ63 tapes, and fusion DVD are on their way.

They will join a new tripod, on camera TFT monitor, redrock microsystems M2 35mm adapter, and a set of Nikon lenses.

A lot of equipment for a beginner (at independent film anyway). I'll let you know if I crash and burn.

Cool. The RedRockMicro is beckoning me as well. But I'm holding out for the Guerilla35 for comparisons sake. Congrats on the gear. Those porta-brace bags are nice!

Andrew, enjoy your great new camera! I remember the day my XL2 showed up at the door. I opened the box like it held a Holy Grail (as opposed to a holy cow, I guess)...I think it took me about half an hour of reading selected bits of the manual, very delicate and respectful assembly, and anxiety to get it put together and powered on.

Now I can swap lenses in about 10 seconds (making sure it is POWERED OFF, of course!!!!) and just regard it is a fine and fun tool. You'll love learning to use this superb camera to its capacities, which are pretty impressive for a miniDV camera. Let us know how it goes!
