Canon TA-100 tripod mount...what I need??

I posted this in the XL2 section on DVXuser, but I guess none of the XL2 owners actually have one, so I thought I'd post here as well.

At work I have three Sony UVW-100 old school Betacam SP cameras. I recently just got two Canon XL2, and I'd like to be able to use the XL2s on my Miller tripods.

Do I just need the Canon TA-100 tripod adapter?

Currently, there is a small plate that is screwed to the bottom of a big plate the Sony camera clips right into. I'm guessing the long upper plate is made by Sony, for the UVW-100 cameras, and the small bottom plate is made by Miller and came with the tripod head.

Here are a few more pics for clarification:

I called Canon tech support, but they were of absolutely NO help whatsoever. I'm not even sure they knew that they made this product...lol

Does anyone have this plate? Would the small piece from the miller tripod screw into the bottom of it like it does the Sony plate?

If not, what do I need?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Wade,

I have two of them, one for each XL-2. The TA-100 adapter plate comes with both pieces. When you look at the picture of the adapter on B&H's site, you're seeing both pieces assembled together. The plate for the tripod side has both hole sizes and will attach to the plate from your Miller tripod. The camera piece (shown on the left of the picture at B&H), has 4 screw holes that attach it to the underside of your XL-2. From the pictures you posted, I can assure you the TA-100 will work for you.

regards,

Thanks so much Greg. I wanted to get some confirmation from someone that owned one. I appreciate the fast response!

Now just be sure to buy from one of our sponsors so we can keep this site going!

Haha...I'd love to, but I work for a Canon dealer :-)

Although, I also need the Anton Bauer mount for the XL2, so I'll see if I can find that at one of our sponsors!!
