wide-angle adapter

I am a norwegian film student and owner of the xl2. A problem i've stumbled upon is wide-angle shots. Since i can't afford a new lense at the moment i'm looking for wide-angle adapters to fit on the original lens. In norway they're way overprice, but I found one on an american site. And I was wondering if someone knows if this one fits the original xl2 lens:

It's a Canon WD46 46mm Wide Angle Lens

I would in addition appreciate any tips regarding wide-angle possibilities for the xl2. Thanks.

I own that lens... It's a good one, but not on an XL2. That's a 46mm screw-on converter for the Canon Optura Xi, while the XL2 has an 82mm filter-thread.

Most WA adapters for the XL2 20x are, I think, bayonet mount. There are several prior discussions on said topic in this very board, I use the Century 0.7x, not the best but nothing is and it does what I want. People say a lot of good about the 3x as well but that will cost more then a converter.

edit: here's some threads, a search will show you even more
