pulsating red colors
i just watched some dailys of my footage and in certain shots, the reds pulsate of and on...whats going on? and can i fix this in post?

funny you should post this problem as i was about to do so myself. Reds on my XL2 also seem to have the problem you're talking about. And it seems to blur out the image as well as I look at my footage. So I'd be curious to what answers or suggestions get posted here, because I as well am looking for a fix, whether in post or preferrebly in camera when shooting. It's annoying to see this result with the XL2 which otherwise seems to handle colors nicely.

havent seen this but one thing i could think of is exposure
are you overexposing the red channel maybe ? This would cause a color shift in reds and if you are just up at the upper end of the red channel it could change colors on you dynamically try shooting something red so you see the change and then lower the exposure and see if the shift goes away |
I'm new to the camera, but I've seen what you're talking about... it definately seems exposure related. If the reds are so strong to create this effect, you might also try lowering the red gain.

I'll have to try lowering the red level as suggested. But the thing is, I think all the color levels are set to mid settings. And the color saturations might seem too little, wouldn;t it then? anyway, i'll report back.
Thanks, Joe |
