Can I trust this retailer?

Hi everyone.

I have at last decided, after much consideration and after watching a number of pieces of demo footage, to get an XL2. I could wait for the XL-H1 or the HVX200, but what's the point when I want to start experimenting NOW, and I have no reason to go HD, and I have seen what image quality the XL2 is capable of?

I have located what seems to be the lowest price for the PAL version of the XL2 (outside of going the hazardous eBay route!) and I'd greatly appreciate some advice on whether the offer is legitimate and/or the retailer reliable.

The price is £2640 and it's from Nepine:

Any advice here would be appreciated, as I'm very eager to get filming!

Seymour.

I'm working on finding an authorized UK dealer to sponsor DV Info Net, to whom we can refer all where-to-buy questions such as yours. In the meantime, check with Canon UK to be sure that this outfit is in fact an authorized Canon dealer.

Hi Seymour. I would have great hesitation buying a video camera from a retailer like that. Not that I know anything against them, but it's just that they sell mainly power tools like angle grinders! For myself, I would pay a bit extra to a camera dealer, and be assured of some after sales support if needed.

I'd just like to mention Park Cameras, although quite small, they're a really great dealer, over the years I've bought an XM2, XL2 and EOS20D from them, along with countless tripods, lenses, filters, etc etc. Never had any problems in 4 years worth of after sales support and advice, all of which was fantastic.

One of the chaps (not sure if he's the boss), Chris, is great, always gives me a discount if I ask nice :)

I'm not sure if you approach companies directly about Sponsorship, but if you do, these guys are well worth it. Their website is here:
