timecode rookie

Hey there guys,

I kind understand the timecode setup. I am about to shoot a documentary and will be using several tapes. I will later have someone editing this for me with Avid or Final Cut. I just want to make sure I am using the right settings in my XL2.

When I try to look at the timecode menu, nothing is really available either than: "count-up.... rec-run".
Everything else is pink and can't be changed. Is this ok to just start using tapes and record one after another? Will it keep the timecode consistent through out all tapes.

I think I will be shooting this in 24p, 16:9. Should I set it to 2:3 or to 2:3 3:2?

thanks in advance!
