slow motion and capture

Hello and good day.

1)Is it possible to make a slow motion as smooth, clean and sharp as those world cup football replays? With no motion trails and blurry movement..

Any setting on the camera that i need to adjust to make it possible?

2)Capturing video via s-video cable is better than firewire. Any pros & cons?
What is the BEST capturing method?

Thank you in advance.

No, not on an XL2. You'd need a faster frame rate. Slow motion on film and on expensive video cameras is shot at a fast frame rate and then played back at 24fps (or 30fps, or whatever frame rate is standard to the medium in question). The best you'd be able to do would be to shoot 30p and then slow it down to 24p in post, but that won't really be very much slower than normal.

I wish the XL2 would over/undercrank too, but it just ain't happening.

needless to say, nothing beats doing this sort of stuff in-camera, but revisionfx's twixtor is a nice little plug-in for after effects that does a pretty amazing job at slowing footage down.

you can check out their sample gallery here:

great

Great!

Thanks for the info and source

Does the shutter control have anything to do with the slow moving effects?
It seems like it when pushing lower button all the way.

Well, it seems that capturing video using s-video would need to have a larger space..
*approx. 60 secs of video would take up about 700MB of hdisk space.
is this true?

pleasure is all mine
