Sweet guys. I just watched a fairly low quality documentary and the picture looked blocky and really digital. I've seen this same thing happen in our projects. I hate this and it really looks bad and unprofessional. Do you know what I'm referring to? How can we prevent this?

That is a compression issue in post. If you plan for web deliver shoot progressive, either 24P 2:3:3:2 or 30P

ash =o)

How do you prevent that compression issue in post?

Jonathan Grant July 5th, 2006 02:50 AM

you say compression do you mean like mpeg? I'm talking about a DVD that I rented called "When stand up stood out". I also noticed it on some of our projects once we exported it to dvd.

Jonathan, I understand your quest for information but this topic is in the XL2 forum so questions regarding DVD compression artifacts should be saved and posted in the appropriate forum.

We keep things on topic because if someone such as yourself goes looking for DVD compression issues, you wouldn't necessarily go pouring through a camera specific forum.

Thanks,

Ok, well if any of you have any help about the compression issue could you email me? jgrant@mail.snu.edu

Thanks :)
