camera/mic Question
Good Morning,
I was wondering if the xl 2 mic which has a two prong plug for it can run a minijck mick with one plug through one of the two inputs. Or would it be better to get a xlr/mini jack converter? I have a rode mic I wanted to try out on the xl2. thank you for any replys. |
Yes, the larger of the two jacks for the Canon stock mic is a regular 1/8" mini-jack. The smaller jack provides power to the stock mic.
Any battery-powered mic will work if connected to the larger jack. |
Hi Dale
For what its worth, if I'm shooting something where I really want good sound I run an ME66 with a power module into xlr1 and flick rec channel select to Ch1&2. I dont know if your mic fits the xl2 mic clamp but the ME66 is too slim - but Rode do a little gizzmo that gets round the problem and goes further towards isolating the mic from the cam - see http://www.rodemic.com/?pagename=Products&product=SM5 Hope this helps Andy |
Thank you for the replies.
I will give the rode a try. |
