XL2 - worried about lowlight

I have an XL1 and an XL1S. On my last gig my cam guy dropped my xl1 when taking if off a tripod. The lens broke off the body :(

So rather than repairing Im thinking of replacing it with an XL2.

I saw a large improvement in low light ability from XL1 to XL1s. But from the attached review of XL2 they say when shooting in 4:3 mode the low light performance of XL2 is worse than XL1s. Is this true? Perhaps I should just buy a used XL1s?

..."Due to its 16:9-native chips, the XL2 comes out slightly ahead in resolution when shooting wide-screen, but loses its advantage when shooting 4:3. Perhaps due to its smaller pixels, the XL2 is slightly worse in low light and also offers somewhat less latitude."...
