XL2 lens flare problem

I've posted a video of some footage i took facing directly into the sun, and I'm getting a "chroma" type effect where greens and reds are appearing in the flare. I'm looking for the best way to create a natural looking flare without this type of artifact. The second half of the video was me trying to fix up the footage by adding an extra fake flare and recolouring the whole thing, but I was unable to eliminate the green spot completely.
If I were to shoot again, would any kind of filter on the lens help the problem? or is it something inherant in the CCD? Already had the ND filter on full, lens closed as much as i could, and shutter 1/50.
