changing lenses

I have the 20X and the 3X wide, and I switch them out periodically throughout the week maybe 3 times a week for just a bit.... is this bad for the camera or lenses? It's a quick change, and the camera is under a rain hood when I do it.... just wondering about the wear...

Also, sometimes at night I will take the lens off when I'm uploading footage, so that there's more space on my desk... Is this a problem?

thanks!
Matt

Matt,

They are made to be changed, I would not worry about it.

However, When on your desk I would make sure you have a cap on the camera body to keep dust out of the camera!!

Just make sure to powerdown the camera when you switch. I have an XL2 that had thousands and thousands of lens changes and it still is going strong.

When you say "power down" can I hit the "standby" button and power it down, or do I need to actually turn the dial to off... because when it goes to standby as far as I can tell there's no difference? Is there?

I would turn it off just to be safe... some people go so far as to remove the battery but I never did that.
