A short "Love Theme" clip, x14 full manual lens

I produced it as a part of a wedding film, for a couple, this part shot almost exclusively with Canon H1 with x14 full manual lens, which I think produces real "cinematic" results due to constant Aperture 1.7 allows to create shallow DOF, would like to know what you think,

Appreciate the comments, Oleg

Unlike any wedding I've ever seen. Looked more like it was from a movie. Very nice shots and great DOF on that lens.

Jim, thank you,
on a Russian forum people ask whether I've used 35mm adapter,... now I contemplate whether to use it, or just a full manual lens...: )

Anyway, did some color correction, updated version.

Hey Oleg,
Nice DOF. Did you shoot in SD or HD? Could you please post some HD framegrabs in full resolution, taken with your manual lens?
Thanks!

Very well done

Thank you.
I will post a couple of frame grabs from the original, it was shot HDV, edited in DV.

Oleg, I've seen your work before. Always nice stuff & I've noticed the music is always fresh!

Who chooses the music usually? Do they give you creative license to choose, or do your clients pick the music? I wonder because a majority of the time, for me anyway, if it's a clients choice, more often than not, they choose mostly uninspiring crap... or songs that have been done to death over the years that really doesn't come close to reflecting their personalities... and nothing current and/or unique.

Bill, thank you,

Most important for me is an emotional response, inspiration from a music,
It comes from unique texture, voice, theme, etc. I like unheard, personal music (too bad there is not enough time to write my own music, I work on developing relationships with a composer)

imho, songs that are heard quite often, popular songs usually emotionally weak, to me at least, they are "used up".

Exactly, but that's what I said... just in my way :)

So... I assume you are given the privilege of selecting music?

It took me a while to google the lyrics of this piece, because the vocalist isn't quite understandable. I did finally hit on something though and found out the artist and song. The lyrics alone aren't appropriate at all, but since it's hard to understand her anyway and the music has such texture and flows well (as you mentioned), it doesn't matter to me what the lyrics are. The music itself just works! :)

Bill, the "insight" for editing comes from the music piece, I can edit to a piece provided by the client, if their inspiration transfers... most of the time their music is uninspiring, and you are absolutely right!
