Alright, I think I've already made a few mistakes with the camera, but here are some shots from last night. These were shot at -3db, mostly wide open.

One thing's for sure ... the H1 is a real low light performer!

It's all 24F, 1/48th, -3db, normal setting. Aperture was mostly wide open 1.6 to 2.0

Wow, -3db. I'm impressed. I'll have to try these settings on the XL2 and see what it yields. Ironically, it was the night footage of Vienna, Austria that I weighed heavily on in deciding to purchase the XL2.

Don't worry about it, Greg. Have at it. I mostly use the iDisk to share clips anyway. Apple won't let me go beyond 50GB a month I think, so it's not like I'm gonna get an extra bill once I've reached the limit. They will just freeze the bandwidth until the next month.

btw, I'm sure many of you have already figured this, but I chose to shoot around the fountain to check for motion artifacts the sudden leaps of water might induce.

Seems like there's very little to complain about in that dept.

They do look good. And a good indicator of performance for indie filmmaking (my personal interest.)

A better overall "torture test" would be a sporting event. Hockey can be a real killer, but anything that requires camera movement, high shutter speeds, and moving subject matter will quickly reveal deinterlacing issues.

Under those conditions, I can't believe how clean the image looks.
It even holds great resolution despite of the light.

I wonder how well it would of held up to 0dB?

Well, I might need to reconsider the H1!

The HVX concept is great, but in the end, it's all about picture quality!

Amen. The images from this camera compared to the footage from the HVX is very revealing.

I took the clips down because I was told that others couldn't access the page. I'm trying to see if I caught Apple's attention with too much bandwidth guzzling.

Seems to be ok now. I'll leave them up another day or two.

It might've looked much better had I more experience with this camera.
Playing with the master pedestal and sharpness levels might've made it silky smooth. Still, I'm very happy with how it performed right out of the box! And this is all crammed down to the absurd compression ratio of HDV.
