Hi,

1. Is 1080/24p from xl-h1 the best way to go for indi film?
2. I read somewhere in this forum uncompressed video is about 200MB/sec. Is that true for 1080/24P as well? Doesn't the size of video depend on whether it is 24P or 6i etc.
3. I am planning on an indi film and I just wanted to check out if uncompressed video is at all an option. Right now for a 90 min film with 3:1 shooting ratio, my calculations show about 3 TB data which is a lot to manage.
4. I don't want to go to Aspect or other software. I would rather spend money on computer hardware (I am a programmer and I can always use good PCs) rather than proprietory software. Also, I would rather stay with PC than MAC for the same reason.

Lal.

1.Yep!
2.There should be about 25% difference with 24p being smaller.
3.I look at it like this - 10x500GB SATA2 HDDs = 5TB and fail save real time capture, costs about 4000$ when you add extra power supplies and extra SATA2 controllers.
4.Well that's not what I work but I guess you could say I'm also a programmer and I feel exactly the same way.
