VGA field monitor connection

Which way is the best to connect a monitor with VGA slot? Is it possible to connect from the rear component out, or should you go over the BNC (with an adapter) or the RCA out (with an adapter), or the HD SDI? Any idea?

Dear Jonas,

I am trying to understand your question. I do not know what you mean by "VGA Slot".

Are you trying to connect a standard computer-type VGA monitor to the component outputs of your XL H1?

Most low end computer type VGA monitors do not have component inputs.

If yours does have component inputs, they may be BNC. If so, then you could purchase or borrow RCA to BNC adapters for a test.

Some computer type monitors with component inputs also have H-Sync and V-Sync inputs. The XL H1 does not have the H-Sync or V-Sync outputs.

A standard VGA monitor has a 15 pin subminature D input plug. This is incompatable with the RCA (composite video) or component outputs of your XL H1.

There may be an adapter available to do what you want.

However, an HD Broadcast monitor is the ideal solution. Alternatively, use your XL H1 component outputs to drive a consumer HDTV.

Dan

I think you gave me the answer, and you may be perfectly right about using a "standard" TFT display. I'm trying to cut cost, but the only answer may be the Marshall.

Thanks for your time Dan!
