EVF Display Info

One thing that irritates me about the XL-H1 is that
on the xl2 you could see the markings/info from the
EVF on your monitor using the video tap or S-Video.
You had the choice of displaying it or not.

Now it seems with HDSDI you only have the video signal.

Has anyone been able to display the EVF display info
on the HDSDI out? I would really like to remove the
clumsy EVF for good!

Thanks

OK. I'm ignorant when it comes to SDI output but.....isn't the entire purpose of it for that signal to be recorded via some device with and SDI input? If you turned on the overlay of viewfinder settings wouldn't that get recorded also?

I guess I am thinking this output was intended for recording only, and that Canon did not think having camera information dispayed via that output was a necessity.

I could see why you might want it to view prior to recording and then turn it off before actually recording or direct capturing.

We need this feature when we are on location recording HDV.
In other words...no need for SDI recording.

In the studio we record SDI, so it has to be turned off there.

So you are recording HDV to tape but you are monitoring it via SDI output? Is that right? Why don't you monitor it via the component out where you "can" have the overlays present? I am not being difficult, I am just trying to understand why you are monitoring via SDI?

THX.

actually didn't know that. I just assumed
when we purchased that the SDI would
carry the overlay as well.

That's what I get for assuming!! :)

I will just get a Comp->SDI converter to
use the Comp out.

Thanks
