Redrock w/ Nikon Lenses v. Canon EF Adaptor w/ Canon Lenses?

I've been hearing a lot of talk about video guys using a Redrock w/ Nikon lenses, but why all the sudden interest? Haven't XL users been able to do the same with EF adaptors and Canon lenses?

Can anyone tell me if there a dramatic quality difference between these two in particular?

The difference is not in the quality of the image. The difference is in the field of view. With the Canon EF adapter, it's going to provide an extremely limited field of view that is more than seven times the focal length of the lens (in 35mm still photography terms). For example, a 50mm lens with the EF adapter will provide a field of view equal to a 360mm lens (again, we're speaking in 35mm still photography terms). In short, all lenses become telephoto with the EF adapter. Fine for wildlife and surveillance work, but not for filmmaking.

The Redrock and other 35mm adapters preserve the original field of view (and corresponding depth of field) of the 35mm still photography lens. Hope this helps,
