New m2 user | xlh1

Hello All.

Well this was me just testing the m2 adapter and the follow focus unit.
So far I am well pleased, not sure I have it set up perfectly just yet, It was very fiddley process setting it up on the h1, the base plate has to be off set.

This footage is just me trying it at home on a rainy day, so not much to say otherwise, I added a few sound effects here and there and even managed to get the Redrock Baseball cap in

All shot on the canon xlh1 with the hd package, and using a nikon 50mm E f1.8 which cost me £50. Any comments suggestions on settings for the camera adapter very appreciated.

Ps. What's causes the vignetting? Do i need to zoom in a little more on the ancromat? also noticed that when i didn't switch the m2 on there seems to be a scratch (long) on the m2, it is not apparent when its switched on, does this mean its damaged? I cleaned all the lens and ancromat before use so i know its not on them.

I look forward to using the m2 on a documentary and music vid I have coming up.

Cheers.

A.

Andy,
you haven't embedded your mov file correct in your html-source.

If you remove all your code within the <table> </table> section and then copy and paste the following source into your web-page it should play fine:

Quote:

<table border='0' cellpadding='0' align="left">
<!-- begin video window... -->
<tr><td>
<OBJECT classid='clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B' width="640"
height="385" codebase='http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab'>
<param name='src' value="http://www.lucidvs.co.uk/AndyLunn/M2Test640x360.mov">
<param name='autoplay' value="true">
<param name='controller' value="true">
<param name='loop' value="true">
<EMBED src="http://www.lucidvs.co.uk/AndyLunn/M2Test640x360.mov" width="640" height="385"

autoplay="true"
controller="true" loop="true" pluginspage='http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/'>
</OBJECT>
</td></tr>
</table>

This is generated from a "nice to have" webpage:
http://cit.ucsf.edu/embedmedia/step1.php where you just fill in the proper information about your film and the code generator do the rest for you!

I use this generator at my own website.

BTW; your video was nice to watch, I'm can't help you about the vignetting. There was also som slight jerkyness in the dolly shots.

Very Nice footage Andy

Andy, I really liked your footage, especially the black and white shots. Was anything done to tweak the contrast in post? What devices were you using in terms of camera support? Altogether those were incredible shots, further convincing me to get the M2! :)

Keep up the great work!

Hello Andrew Thanks for the comments

I tweaked the colour in FCP using the colour corrector 3 way filter.
for the shots in the room, i used a £300 dolly, it jumps slightly when you cross over where the pipes meet, but other than that they are great.

I tried another sample here :

ps. Watch the end, its funny or shold that be expensive.!! :rolleyes:

Do you have to use the stocklens between the camera and the m2? How long is your rig then? do you have some pictures of your setup?

The footage looks good

Andy Lunn May 31st, 2007 08:42 AM

I will try and source some pikkies, the rig is now about a 2ft long lol and totally unusable for run and gun, for the m2 to really be used to its best you need time and patience. Then the results and squirtastic. :)
